Millenium Minerals expands its West African footprint through new diamond licence applications in Guinea’s highly prospective Gueckedou and Macenta regions.
Strategic Expansion of Diamond Exploration in Guinea’s Rich Mineral Belt
Millenium Minerals PLC is pleased to announce that the Company is progressing applications to secure multiple diamond exploration and mining licences in the Republic of Guinea, further strengthening its West African footprint alongside its existing operations in Sierra Leone.
The proposed licence areas cover approximately 46km² in Gueckedou and 70km² in Macenta, both highly prospective regions within Guinea’s diamond rich belt. These applications form part of Millenium’s broader strategy to consolidate premium diamond assets across the Mano River Union region.
Macenta holds particular historical significance. Over seven years ago, Golden Saint Minerals uncovered an ultra rare green diamond in the Macenta district, demonstrating the exceptional geological potential of the area. That discovery positioned Macenta as one of the most intriguing frontier diamond regions in West Africa.
Millenium’s current initiative builds on this legacy, applying modern geological modelling, disciplined capital management and strict ethical mining principles. The Company is committed to working closely with national authorities and local communities to ensure responsible development aligned with international standards.
Executive Chairman Cyril D’Silva commented:
“Guinea represents a natural extension of our regional diamond strategy. The historical discovery of a rare green diamond at Macenta validates the geological thesis. Our focus now is to secure the right licences, apply advanced exploration techniques and unlock value responsibly.”
Further updates will be provided as the licence process progresses.
